Transportation Guide for New Texas A&M Students
By Aggieland Car Service · College Station, TX
Welcome to Aggieland! Whether you're an incoming freshman, a graduate student arriving from out of state, or an international student navigating a new country, figuring out transportation in College Station is one of the first things you'll need to sort out. Here's what you need to know.
Getting to College Station from the Airport
Most students fly into Houston (IAH or HOU) or Austin (AUS) when arriving at Texas A&M. From there, your options are renting a car, having family pick you up, or booking a private car service. For international students or anyone arriving with a lot of luggage and no local contacts, a private car service is often the most practical option — you're picked up at the terminal and driven directly to your destination with no connections or transfers.
Aggieland Car Service offers fixed-rate rides from all three airports: IAH ($115), HOU ($125), and AUS ($105). We can accommodate luggage, group travel, and we accept international phone numbers and WhatsApp contacts.
Getting Around College Station
College Station has an on-campus bus system (the Aggie Spirit bus) that's free for students and covers main campus routes. For off-campus trips — grocery stores, restaurants, medical appointments, or Northgate — rideshare apps like Uber and Lyft are available but can be unreliable late at night or during game days when demand is high.
For guaranteed, reliable local transportation, Aggieland Car Service offers flat-rate local rides starting at $10 for trips up to 5 miles.
Going Home for the Holidays
Thanksgiving, Christmas, and spring break are the busiest travel times of the year in College Station. Book your airport transportation early — especially around major A&M home game weekends when demand for rides spikes significantly. We recommend booking at least 48–72 hours in advance for airport transfers.
A Note for International Students
If you're arriving from outside the United States, you may not have a US phone number yet when you land. That's perfectly fine — we accept international phone numbers and WhatsApp contacts. When you book with us, just enter your international number in the phone field (start with your country code, e.g. +91 for India) and we'll make sure we can reach you.
We're proud to serve the diverse Texas A&M community and understand that navigating a new country takes time. We're friendly, patient, and happy to answer any questions.
Aggie Tip
Save our number — 979-393-2150 — in your phone before you arrive. It's good to have a reliable local transportation contact from day one.
